As the consumer tribe, we provide payment solutions and financial services to everyone, not just merchants, using technologies people love to allow anyone to interact with everyone. Our vision is to build an inclusive financial world where all humans are united through effortless, fun and transparent interactions.
We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our consumer services backend team in our Cologne office.
What you’ll do in this role
You’ll shape the core services that power our consumer apps on a daily basis.
You'll work closely with the product and engineering team to find solutions to problems that can adjust to our future requirements.
In the first three months, you'll develop major features that impact our consumer and merchant base. You'll work closely with the product team to build services that are maintainable, usable, and reliable. You'll help us re-think problems we've solved before in a different way as requirements evolve.
By the end of your first year, you'll have a wealth of knowledge about our complex problem domain, as well as its implications in the interface and in the backend. You'll have deployed numerous features in our backend services and provided value to our growing consumer and merchant user base.
You will fit in perfectly to our team if:
You are familiar with Go and SQL (Postgres).
You have worked on both monolithic and micro-service projects.
You are curious about DevOps and have experience with maintaining running systems.
You enjoy collaborative sessions on API design with product managers, mobile and backend engineers.
You are able contribute to components maintained by other teams in Ruby or Node.js.
You strive for clean code, but also know how to make your "shortcuts" easy to delete in a crunch.
You are not afraid to use Google or ask for help when something is beyond your grasp.
Technology excites you and you strive to learn something new on a daily basis!
You even have experience with certificate based authentication mechanisms.
The Backend Team: You'll be with people who care about mutual learning, keeping our technical knowledge up-to-date, and discussing ideas that contribute not only to the company's success but keeping everyone well-rounded and hands-on.
Budget for attending conferences and advancing your career. We encourage you to speak at conferences and give talks.
We have a close, welcoming and international community. Our office has a strong sense of community; we get together regularly for sports, Karneval, and drinks.
