Trade Marketing Manager

SumUp is on shelf available at ‘Brick & Mortar’ retailers with a rapidly growing footprint of over 2000 stores and webshops across the EU, making retail a key acquisition channel for SumUp. As Trade Marketing Manager you will be responsible for the evaluation, conceptualisation and innovation of SumUp’s entire in-store setup. You will develop new setups that will elevate store performance and you will also have a coordinating role in supporting our partner managers in developing and negotiating successful marketing campaigns with their retail partners. The broad objective in this role is being the centre of excellence for our retail channel.

 As part of this team, you will: 

  • Provide solutions in shopper communication for our European retail footprint; you are responsible for the evaluation, conceptualisation and innovation of SumUp’s entire in-store setup. You will develop new setups that will elevate store performance.

  • Timely development of support materials, including combined launch/trade toolkits which includes perfect store-execution guidelines and conceptual sell-in stories.

  • Accelerate and coordinate local adaptation and in-store communication plans for our products.

  • Support cross-functional teams prior and during roll-out stage to safe-guard commercial success of launches (via setting of KPI’s and monitoring process)

  • Collaborate closely with our marketing, hardware, logistics and design team.

  • Develop and align on negotiation and execution of strategic annual marketing plans.

  • Know retailers’ performance and opportunities to drive channel growth.

  • Develop promotional and pricing strategies and monitor/optimize regularly.

  • Develop and deliver period reviews and make deep dives into retailers/MCCs/countries.

  • Make our mPOS category relevant with data consultancy and implement our category vision into shelf layouts per retailer category/retailer

  • Co-pilot the Head of Retail and our Partner Managers.


  • You have an entrepreneurial mindset and are result-driven. You have an affinity with data and know-how to turn data and commercial insights into plans.

  • You have experience with working with third-parties and internal departments, you are a team-player and are capable to convince stakeholders.

  • You are responsible for translating the SumUp brand into effective in-store execution

  • You know how to create relevant tools and analysis for our partnership managers, to build more relevance at retailers that will bring us marketing opportunities and sales.
