We have scaled fast in the last year and we have more than doubled in size globally. We are now setting our People Team up for the next phase of growth. The VP People, Europe will take on what was previously known within SumUp as 'Employee Experience'. Our current Head of Employee Experience, Europe will move into a new role within SumUp working with our Product Development teams and we are looking for someone to join us and take the whole People Team for the European Market to the next level. In Europe, we currently have 1000 employees spread across 11 offices in 10 different countries.
The role is part of the core leadership of the People Team which in the past year has grown to over 90 people globally and will see further growth again this year. It looks after the Talent Acquisition, People Operations, Talent Development and People Partnership teams that are focused on the European markets. All areas will see significant growth in the next year and will need someone with excellent leadership experience to guide them through all the challenges that growth and maturing as a company will present.
Working as part of the People leadership team based in Berlin (also available to be based elsewhere in Europe if you can travel regularly), you will:
Be an active & influential part of the People leadership team and be key in making decisions that allow SumUp to become one of the greatest employers on the planet.
Be a key member of the European leadership team and be an advocate for shaping a truly great company and an awesome workplace across the whole of Europe.
Work collaboratively with your counterpart in the Americas to create global People solutions that take SumUp to the next level.
Recruit, grow, coach, inspire & lead a large team.
Be a driving force in shaping the culture of SumUp across Europe that ultimately leads to long term company success.
Be key in defining the global people team (HR) strategy.
Partner with and advise European leadership on people-related strategy and decisions.
Be a driving force behind improving workforce strategy across Europe.
Create a platform of excellent HR processes that can be used across the whole company and avoid bureaucracy, allow for autonomy and ultimately make SumUp to be faster, fairer and transparent.
Be a driving force behind ensuring excellent scalability of the workforce across Europe and foster and successfully rollout new Talent strategies.
Ensure that SumUp is setup for future success by creating excellent succession planning.
Coach and advise on organizational structure as we evolve and grow in size.
Ensure each Tribe has the developmental needs recognized and planned for.
Drive Employee engagement initiatives across Europe.
Proactively ensure best People practices are shared across all offices.
Proactively ensure that we learn from failures across all offices (from a People perspective).
Ensure delivery of programs are managed with exceptional attention to change management.
Skills & Experience
Fantastic & demonstrable leadership capabilities.
Inspirational & influential communication skills. Must be able to present vision, inspire teams and influence other leaders.
15+ years experience in Human Resources related roles with a proven track record as a Head of People or equivalent.
Have excellent experience across all areas of the People function and be able to recruit, lead and inspire senior leaders in each area.
Must have experience of guiding large groups of people through transformations within fast growing technological environments.
Must be extremely passionate & driven to create amazing companies.
Extremely international outlook and create great relationships with our teams in across Europe and the Americas.
Experience with both startups and large organizations is a plus.
(The role also has the potential to be based anywhere in Europe, if regular travel is possible).
