Principal UX Writer

Our global team of 60+ designers have deep expertise in User Experience Research, Product Design and Brand Design. We are building additional capabilities in areas including industrial design, motion design, data visualization, UX writing and design operations. 

Members of the design community work in co-located cross-functional teams, across all our offices in Berlin, Warsaw, Cologne, Copenhagen, Sofia and São Paulo. They develop solutions for our core payments product including our bespoke hardware, as well as a suite of software tools that support merchants as they grow their business. We believe in quality, in making complex business tools simple, and in using data to anticipate merchants needs as their business grows. 

What you're going to do

As Principal UX Writer, you will be introducing the importance of the word into our approach to developing simple, understandable experiences for our merchants. As a creative problem solver, we expect you to make the technical feel human and authentic, to use language that is compelling, concise and friendly, and that weaves a coherent narrative through all interactions with our digital products.

You will be responsible for setting up the UX writing practice through best practices, holding workshops, and defining processes for integrating UX copy development during early design iterations. You will help shape the overall merchant experience and be an integral part of the product, design and research teams. 

Specific responsibilities will include

  • Write UX copy across the merchant journey with a focus on the product experience (sign up, the mobile app, the web dashboard)

  • Collaborating with marketing content, support and other content creation teams to ensure coherent experiences and tone of voice of different touch points

  • Create a catalog of UX terms and phrases

  • Defining and maintaining writing processes, language standards and interaction patterns to drive consistency in our experiences

  • Driving UX content strategy, content creation and best practices that are essential in helping merchants complete transactions

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to bring copy and tone of voice to the heart of our UX practice

  • Articulating your content decisions to stakeholders, peers and executives

  • Engaging with the big picture while delivering hands-on results on a variety of products and features, for different teams

  • Applying language that is compelling, concise, and friendly - on brand but with a human, natural touch

  • Leveraging data and analytics to identify opportunities for improving the merchant experience

  • Optimizing UI text throughout our web and app experiences to increase engagement and conversion through A/B and user testing

  • Coaching and supporting colleagues in UX writing best practice, advocating for it both within the UX team and throughout the company

Your profile 

  • You have 3+ years of experience writing digital content for global brands, including writing for translation

  • And 5+ years of experience UX writing for digital products, apps, or ecommerce

  • You have deep understanding of UX content strategy and user experience

  • You have worked with qualitative user research and in-house or remote user testing

  • You are experienced working in fast-moving, technical organization with a global audience and language/translation requirements

  • You are organized and detail-oriented, but still able to balance multiple projects at the same time

  • You speak English on a native speaker level and  have strong oral and written communication skills in both English and ideally one other language relevant to our global reach.

  • Your excellent presentation skills will help you collaborate with team members from a wide range of countries and cultures

  • You have experience in working in an agile environment and the ability to adapt quickly to changing product priorities

  • MA or BA in any field, with extensive experience in content development, design and product development
