Our team of 70+ designers and user researchers is split into three departments covering User Experience Research, Product- and Brand Design. All designers work embedded in product tribes, in market facing teams or as part of a Global Design team. We are building additional capabilities in areas including industrial design, motion design, data visualization, UX writing and design operations.
As Product Design Lead you will be working in SumUp’s eCommerce-focused team that is developing capabilities for small merchants to set up an online presence. The team’s mission is simplifying e-commerce. Whether merchants want to build their brand website, track multichannel markets or offer customers live chat support, we're there. Raising the bar for ourselves and what our customers expect of us is what we do best at SumUp eCommerce.
We're looking for individuals who are constantly curious, innovative and brave as we work together across departments to push forward better solutions. Your responsibility will include understanding the current product suite, developing new features from onboarding to product support, and bringing customer centricity and research practices to the joint product, design and engineering organization. You will work with designers on the team, as well as collaborate closely with product and engineering to deliver product success.
You are the expert in your specific domain, setting the standard for design excellence. In addition to your role within the eCommerce team, you will be part of the SumUp Design community, coordinating on related design activities, and driving the adoption of the experience strategy into the eCommerce offering.
It is expected that you are tracking product and experience performance across different parts of the merchant journey, working with the data analytics team to define dashboards and tracking criteria. You will marry data-based insights with qualitative insights, collaborating closely with user researchers in your tribe and at a global level.
You will mentor other designers, and foster close collaboration within and across tribes. As we put the user at the center of every decision we need a strong leader that constantly advocates and drives a human-centered design approach.
You have 10+ years of experience as a UX & UI Designer, with expertise in systems thinking and service design
You have experience leading a team of 3+ designers
While your expertise may be in UX, you also have deep knowledge about UI and design systems, and can represent design excellence across both.
Your design process follows a human-centered approach and you apply both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to validate your solutions
You execute across all phases of design work: define user research, establish conceptual foundation for design solutions, execute excellent UX flows and apply visual design systems, prototype using a variety of tools and methods, create production ready designs, participate or conduct usability testing and support multi-disciplinary teams during implementation.
You lead key initiatives for your tribe and across tribes as needed
You collaborate with engineering and business intelligence to solve complex experiences through smart, personalized technology that supports intelligent front end experiences
You are deeply engaged with the design chapter and peers to gather and provide feedback and optimize the end-2-end merchant journey
You have proven record of leading, defining and maintaining product design strategy and design systems
Your excellent presentation and stakeholder management skills will help you communicate the value of design and design rational across the whole company
You have experience in working in an agile environment and the ability to adapt quickly to changing product priorities
BA or MS in Design or related fields, or complementary studies with deep work experience in product design
