Our team of 90+ designers and user researchers is split into three departments covering User Experience Research, Product- and Brand Design. All designers work embedded in product tribes, in market facing teams or as part of a Global Design team. We are building additional capabilities in areas including industrial design, motion design, data visualization, UX writing and design operations.
SumUp’s Online Payments tribe enables merchants to offer state-of-the-art payment solutions for their online businesses. This tribe plays a key role in working towards SumUp’s vision of operating a 360° full circle payments solution provider.
As a highly experienced designer in Online Payments, you will work both across the tribe but also the organization to drive strategic initiatives and those affecting multiple teams, squads and tribes. You will work closely with the VP of Product and Product Managers in Online Payments to integrate existing solutions into a cohesive merchant experience, define and prototype new product concepts, and identify opportunities for innovation. At the same time you will collaborate with engineering leads and designers in different teams, and strategize with the Global Head of User Research on the best methods for understanding our merchants across the globe.
Your responsibility will be bringing qualitative and quantitative information to complex problems, facilitation workshops, design sprints and cross-functional/cross-team discussions. You will work hands on to structure problem solving, design specific user experience, while collaborating with other designers to arrive at innovative, simple yet elegant solutions that cater to our merchant's real-life problems.
You are the expert in your specific domain, setting the standard for design excellence. You will be a contributor to the product and experience strategy for SumUp. This will include building frameworks based on user research that can be used to evolve our products and services from the customer perspective; defining experience hypotheses and business metrics of success; defining workstreams and delivering top solutions. You will collaborate closely with product and tech leads, as well as peers across the organization.
You will be tracking product and experience performance across different parts of the customer journey, working with the data analytics team to define dashboards and tracking criteria.
You have 7+ years of experience as a UX & UI Designer, with deep expertise in one and strong skills in the other.
You know the common design tools and services (we mainly use Figma)
Your design process follows a human-centered approach and you apply both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies to validate your solutions
You execute across all phases of design work: define user research, establish conceptual foundation for design solutions, execute excellent UX flows and apply visual design systems, prototype using a variety of tools and methods, create production ready designs, participate or conduct usability testing and support multi-disciplinary teams during implementation.
You lead key initiatives for your tribe or across tribes
You collaborate with engineering and business intelligence to solve complex experiences through smart, personalized technology that supports intelligent front end experiences
You are deeply engaged with the design chapter and peers to gather and provide feedback and optimize the end-2-end merchant journey
You have deep expertise working with design systems
You contribute best-of-class design components and UX patterns to the global design system and commit to upholding the highest standards and a shared vision
Your excellent presentation and stakeholder management skills will help you communicate the value of design and design rational across the whole company
You have experience in working in an agile environment and the ability to adapt quickly to changing product priorities
BA or MS in Design or related fields, or complementary studies with deep work experience in product design
