In Hardware, we are passionate about creating these beautifully designed card payment devices and accessories that enable our merchants to start, run, and grow their own businesses. In doing so, we deal with a diverse range of engineering topics - industrial and electronic design, embedded systems, all the way to mobile apps and backend services.
As an Industrial Designer, you will be deeply involved in the development of concepts and designs for future products, starting from card readers and POS systems to accessories and packaging materials.
What you’ll do:
Create products starting from the analysis, design, prototype all the way to mass production
Create sketches, stunning renderings, mock-ups, 3D prints and detailed cad models
Work collaboratively with colleagues to optimize design solutions
Select the best components and materials and help source parts globally
Create exceptional high-quality product packaging to give the best first impression for our new customers
See your ideas quickly materialize and become SumUp’s new flagship products
Perhaps occasional business travels to meet our suppliers
You’ll be great for this position if:
You have 5+ years of practical experience in designing consumer products.
You are proficient in designing solids and surfaces in 3D CAD (Solidworks preferably).
You are able to test and communicate ideas quickly through prototyping.
You are experienced with a wide range of materials and manufacturing processes.
You have experience in bringing injection molded plastics to production.
You are skilled in designing packaging for consumer products.
You are fluent in English.
Nice to have:
You have a degree in industrial design, mechanical engineering or similar.
You have a design portfolio with a selection of your previous projects.
You have excellent skills in using common design software (Adobe CS, etc.).
