Lead Engineer (Platform)
At the Merchant Growth Tribe we are helping merchants to sell more using various channels such as Point of Sale, Invoicing, Online Store and more. We are doing this while keeping our UI/UX simple, yet in the background, we are building platform services to support each channel and the many millions of our merchants that we serve. To achieve our goal, we have set out on a mission to build a powerful Product Catalogue, the cornerstone of every merchant’s business. The product catalog team designs, develops, and tests APIs that power the management of products, as well categories of products and inventories.
We are now looking for a Lead Engineer to lead our mission.
What you’ll do
Define and govern data modeling for scale and design standards, tools, best practices, and related development methodologies for our Product Catalog and establish sound data modeling principles.
Evaluate and help choose the right architectural designs given business requirements for our Product Catalogue in a multi-product and multichannel environment.
Engage with other teams across SumUp to understand and translate business needs into data models supporting long-term solutions.
Work with platform and product teams to implement data strategies, build data flows and develop conceptual data models with concurrent programming.
Interact with Product Managers and Engineers to define and deliver data models for the Product Catalogue.
You’ll be great for this role if
You have 10+ years’ relevant experience in building scalable robust transactional systems and first-hand experience in leading a team of skilled engineers.
You have vast experience with transaction processing systems that have high availability/throughput.
You have a track record of establishing engineering practices, encouraging DevOps culture adoption, facilitate the adoption of the Functional Programming/clean code practices.
You’re an expert at JVM-based languages.You have vast experience with microservices architecture, event-driven design and RESTful APIs.
You have experience in data modeling and have had prior experience building a Product Catalogue.
