Principal Web Engineer - Platform

We are seeking a Principal Web Engineer to join us as part of Platform and help us to shake up the payments industry even further! Our team leads and drives the web projects and is responsible for the overall direction of the product portfolio. As a Principal Web Engineer you will be regularly aligning with peers & leaders from different areas of the business, to understand how their projects impacts our web projects and ensuring alignment across different areas. 

As the Principal Web Engineer, you should have a comprehensive understanding of how to architect, build, and deliver complex projects, in addition to an extensive understanding of modern web development practices. 

We are looking for someone with deep exposure to web projects, both their successes and their failures! Someone who can be a thought leader to the web engineers across different teams, help to raise standards and mentor other engineers to success.

What you’ll do

  • Provide tooling for other teams (either via inner-source or open-source);

  • Maintain & drive the web implementation of our Design System;

  • Work alongside our data team to provide tracking infrastructure for other web teams;

  • Maintain & drive the architecture/infrastructure to our distributed Merchant facing Dashboard.

You’ll be great for this position if

  • Deep technical knowledge of React.js and TypeScript.

  • Holistic understanding of how the different components interact and what you need to build great web experience.

  • You love to work with distributed teams, mentor others, and share your knowledge.

  • You have experience in delivering large-scale distributed applications hopefully across different domains with a clear demonstration of application/system design knowledge.

  • You strive to have an active role in features and design decisions, defining front-end architecture.

  • You strive to balance the needs of the business with sustainable technical solutions.

  • You know what to test, why to test it, and how to write meaningful tests.

  • You care about user interaction, performance, usability, and of course – making the interface beautiful and accessible.
