The Data Platform is central to SumUp’s data-driven strategy and growth plans and is responsible for engaging the entire SumUp organisation to set up, and adopt, data-informed processes.
As a Senior Engineering Manager at SumUp, your main responsibility is to drive the delivery of the team initiatives and to support, coach & grow your people. Your leadership and experience in the data engineering domain will ensure you are able to appropriately support, challenge and help grow your team members. Does this sound interesting to you?
What you’ll do:
Engage and improve your team's engineering culture by driving team-strengthening activities, such as offsites, hackathons, cross-team projects and knowledge-sharing sessions.
Support multiple teams with engineers up to Principal level through regular 1:1s, continuous feedback loops, and clear goals.
Contribute to your team's strategy and help your teams to set a long term roadmap. You’ll also help with defining, planning, and driving large-scale projects from start to finish.
Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to identify and define value-adding initiatives.
Participate in hiring and onboarding of new engineers.
You’ll be great for this role if:
Experience working within data engineering or data infrastructure - either previously hands-on engineering experience, or having led teams who focus on data engineering
You have proven experience working in an agile development environment working with complex requirements and delivering great results
Experience with creating an environment that continuously improves excellence in engineering
Experience in people management, mentoring, and career development of engineers
You are a humble, servant leader
