Global Head of Acquiring, Payment Network and Expansion

In line with this vision, we’re looking for a Global Head of Acquiring, Payment Network and Expansion who will define our acquiring and expansion strategies in new territories, considering both the global product vision of SumUp and local market opportunities. 

In addition, SumUp is planning to become a global acquirer itself. The Global Head of Acquiring, Payment Network and Expansion will also develop and implement a strategy for this. 

What you’ll do

  • Optimise our global payment network through a holistic and strategic approach

  • Develop and implement our expansion strategy by identifying, structuring and leading key partnerships in the defined markets

  • Lead origination, negotiation and integration with the right acquirers and payment partners considering key dimensions such as cost, speed, channel, brand and geography

  • Develop a roadmap, structure and manage the entire process for SumUp to become a global acquirer

  • Establish and manage a trusted relationship with card schemes, partners and banks in the defined markets externally and the integration teams internally

  • Understand the requirements to operate the SumUp products in local markets and coordinate  the relationships with third parties for legal, compliance and technical needs

  • Build, lead and motivate an entirely new team

  • Establish a collaborative network with other relevant internal teams 

You’ll be great for this position if

  • You have managed expansion and partnerships in new markets for fast-paced fintech or tech organisations

  • You have a commercial background with strong business development experience 

  • You have a deep knowledge of the payment industry

  • You have established and managed relationships with external parties 

  • You have technical knowledge of card acceptance and transaction processing 

  • You have an understanding of legal, regulatory and compliance requirements 

  • You are an influencer who has excellent negotiation, communication and collaboration skills

  • You have managed regional or global teams
