Financial Crime Manager - SumUp Banking Tribe

Our SumUp office in Berlin is currently hiring for the position of Financial Crime Manager to join our Global Banking Tribe.
This role sits within the Merchant Bank Tribe, who are responsible for building, growing & supporting SumUp’s new banking products.
Accountabilities for the role - what are you expected to do?
Own the FinCrime controls, machine learning intelligence and operational excellence as focus areas for the bank’s fincrime risk team.
Be responsible for building the vision and goals of the team, defining how to measure them and how to set the right KPIs to measure success – you'll make the decisions and define the strategy alongside the product engineering teams building the bank’s platform and products.
Help us build AI technology to improve our detection and prevention of risky activity using your industry and product knowledge
Build a unified risk vision across the bank’s product teams, while guaranteeing a great experience for good customers and compliance with regulations in each of our markets.
Identify missing or weak controls and build more resilient ones to ensure we meet our regulators and banking partners expectations.
Design solutions with support from our product and engineering teams using customer insights and data.
Work with operations teams and product managers to help them understand and measure risks and provide insights and data where necessary to improve the development of our products and platform.
Willing to travel as required.
Experience/Competences for the Role - what are you expected to know?
You have experience in anti-money laundering, know your customer and fraud domains.
You have worked with distributed product & engineering teams.
You have worked with an operations team and built product capabilities that help operations grow sustainably, improve efficiency and reach operational excellence.
You have some experience in risk, security, trust & safety or compliance and evaluate product decisions with a risk impact mindset.
You have an understanding of how systems are built, and you’re able to write your own SQL to help your team prioritise and ship new features.
This role requires fluent English.
