About the team
As Senior Legal Counsel, Product, you’ll provide legal guidance to our teams developing financial technology products--including e-wallet, invoicing, and lending services--to meet the expanding needs of our merchants. You’ll be an integral part of dynamic and fast-growing segments of SumUp’s business, working with smart, creative people and innovative technology to create amazing product experiences. You’ll be a part of our global Legal Team, reporting to the General Counsel. And as our product offerings grow, you will build a team around you to support them.
What you’ll do
Work closely with product and engineering teams to provide legal guidance related to new and existing products and features throughout the entire product development lifecycle
Negotiate key commercial and intellectual property agreements affecting the company’s products and services
Remain up-to-date on relevant laws, regulations, and industry practices so as to provide the best possible legal advice and strategic input on product development initiatives
Help develop SumUp’s global product strategy
Collaborate with legal, compliance, and privacy colleagues around the world
You’ll be great for this role if
Are a fully qualified attorney in Germany, eligible to practice as an in-house counsel
Have 6+ years of relevant post-qualification experience at a global company or law firm
Are familiar with launching products and advising on the legal and regulatory aspects of product development in the technology space
Understand the structure and regulatory framework of payments, lending or related financial services
Have excellent commercial negotiation and drafting skills
Can translate legal advice into practical, actionable guidance for innovative product and business teams
Can work independently, manage multiple mission-critical projects, and contribute successfully to cross-functional, international teams
Are fluent in spoken and written English
Bring common sense, sound judgment, and a can-do attitude to your work
