German Speaking Payroll Partner

As part of the People team you will be responsible for the global HR routines. Today the team is spread across our 3 main offices (Berlin, Sofia and São Paulo), but our work impacts all the 12 SumUp offices! The challenge is to have, at the same time, flexible and accurate processes that allow the company to grow fast with consistency.

You will also help us to take our people data reports to a new level, while ensuring that the employees' information is always accurate. The SumUp innovation environment is also present in our routine. That means new challenges everyday to deliver the best experience for our employees.

What you’ll do

  • You will play an active part in our payroll team and prepare, review and execute our monthly payroll for Germany, which includes over 900 employees

  • Support our employees with all requests related to payroll, eg. change of tax class, certificate of work, yearly income tax documents, and many more

  • Communicate with external providers, eg. health insurances, our pension provider, Agentur für Arbeit and tax offices 

  • Be part of the monthly reconciliation with our accounting team in Sofia

  • Administer our payrolls and control incoming and outgoing payments

  • Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance

  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles

You’ll be great for this role

  • You are speaking German on a native level (this is a must!) and you are able to express yourself in English towards employees and external providers

  • You are an excellent communicator with active listening and interpersonal skills

  • You have experience working in Payroll and fundamental knowledge in people operations

  • You love working with people and care about great employee experiences

  • You know how to prioritise to meet deadlines and know when to ask for support

  • You are able to work in a fast paced environment, where accuracy matters
