We are looking for a Payroll Lead to join our People team. As Payroll is currently one of several responsibilities in the People Operations teams all over Europe, we are looking for an expert and leader to set up our newly created European Payroll function. You will make sure our payroll processes in Germany and several other locations in Europe are scalable. You will also help us to take our European payroll processes to a new level, while ensuring that we meet all compliance requirements.
What you’ll do:
Lead the German payroll team and guide our Payroll/People Operations Partners in smaller locations, such as FR, UK, IE, DK
Execute and lead reconciliation of SumUp's largest Payroll in Germany (900 employees and growing)
Build up a strong payroll team that can manage status quo and is ready for future growth
Ensure accurate and complete journal entries for General Ledger; prepare, review, and analyse payroll costs and balances and ensure timely resolution of reconciliation items
Identify and execute payroll process improvements and drive the automation of the payroll process forward
Take a leading role in the monthly reconciliation with our accounting team in Sofia
Lead and ensure successful audit results and compliance in our European locations
You’ll be great for this role if:
You have extensive experience working in German Payroll with profound knowledge of German employment law and social security
You have significant experience of managing end-to-end payroll processes gained in an international environment, ideally experience with multiple countries (experience with UK, Ireland, Denmark, Spain, Italy or France would be ideal)
You are an experienced leader in the payroll field, with experience of multiple different set-ups and technologies
You are fluent in English, ideally combined with at least work proficiency German language skills
You are an excellent communicator with active listening and interpersonal skills with a high-level of collaboration internally and externally
You have the ability to work in a fast paced, growing environment with changing processes and systems
