Who you are:
SumUp is seeking an exceptional VP of Engineering to lead our US Engineering organization, overseeing the US Market, Global Loyalty, and Global Enterprise engineering teams. This pivotal leadership role will drive the development of our next-generation payment, POS, and loyalty solutions while managing a talented team of US-based and global engineers. The ideal candidate will have decades of experience leading high-performing engineering teams, with a proven track record of pushing boundaries, moving fast and delivering reliable commercially successful products across payments, POS, Loyalty, and banking. While this is a leadership role, you also have the ability to jump in to talk tech with the best of them.
Communication and collaboration work best while in person so this role is located in our Boulder, Colorado office.
What you’ll do:
Lead a 30+ person engineering organization across multiple product domains including In-Store, Loyalty, Integrations, QA, POS and Platform teams
Drive the technical strategy and execution to accelerate rapid growth in the US market and beyond
Unify our merchant experience platforms and systems into one cohesive offering
Champion and prioritize AI-first engineering practices and innovation across the organization
Participate in technical due diligence for M&A opportunities
Collaborate heavily with global engineering teams to integrate US and global SumUp infrastructure and drive product adoption across geographies
What we’re looking for:
Proven track record of leading large-scale engineering organizations in a global context
Extensive experience in payments, POS, or financial technology
Strong technical leadership abilities with a focus on delivering high-quality products at scale while also getting in the weeds and knowing our products
Demonstrated success in driving organizational transformation and improving team performance
Experience balancing multiple stakeholder needs while maintaining strategic focus
Track record of building and scaling engineering teams in high-growth environments
Passionate and driven leader eager to scale SumUp US to the next level

Compensation:
$250k-$300k
Compensation will be finalized based on the candidate’s experience
