We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our new Global Expansion and Acquiring Tribe, whose goal is to launch and scale new markets on a global scale (LATAM, APAC, EMEA etc). Our team is in charge of defining strategy and delivering products and services for those targeted markets.
We leverage all products features built within SumUp and adjust and localise them for new markets using our acquiring and banking partners – from a merchant’s first user experience in our app, to making their first sale, to getting their first payout. The engineering expansion squad in the Tribe focuses on making that experience seamless, intuitive, and hassle-free.
SumUp currently offers our products and services in over 30 countries around the world. Country expansion is one of our success factors and a pillar in our growth strategy. If you’re excited about empowering small business owners around the world, we’d love to hear from you.
What you’ll do
Design, implement, and iteratively improve backend services
Maintain and extend the core payments system, responsible for the transaction flow for different payment methods
Participate in API design and implementation for both internal APIs and those exposed to our third-party integrators
Help your team to deliver business value by taking decisions related to backend and actively participating in the product discussions
Provide comprehensive documentation, good test coverage, and improve code quality
Collaborate with other software developers, QA and DevOps engineers to ensure smooth deployment, continuous integration, and support for the software that we deliver
Actively participate in code reviews with other software engineers
You’ll be great for this role if:
You have experience with Git and SQL (PostgreSQL)
You have a good understanding of software architecture and application design
You have good English communication skills, both spoken and written
You have solid debugging and problem-solving skills
You're familiar with Agile Methodologies (Scrum or Kanban)
You have experience with distributed and fault-tolerant systems
You have a passion for clean, maintainable and testable code
You value team over individuals and autonomy within your team
Why you should join SumUp
You’ll be part of a close, welcoming international community. We get together regularly for breakfasts, cocktail nights, and team events
We offer relocation support for a smooth transition to living and working in the city
Paid vacation, sick days, and holidays
Company paid life insurance
Powder Day! - An additional day off per year that is used to spend time in the mountains (hiking, skiing, snowboarding, etc.)
50% employer paid medical, dental, and vision insurance
401k retirement plan with up to 6% employer matching
We believe in the everyday hero.
Small business owners are at the heart of all we do, so we create powerful, easy-to-use financial solutions to help them run their businesses. With a founder’s mentality and a 'team-first’ attitude, our diverse teams across Europe, South America and the United States work together to ensure that the small business owners we partner with can be successful doing what they love.
