Compliance Expansion Intern/Working Student

We're looking for a Compliance Expansion Intern (40h/week) or Working Student (20h/week) to join our amazing GRC (Governance, Risk & Compliance) team & Expansion tribe in London. Together with our global team, you‘ll support all compliance and regulatory efforts to bring SumUp to new countries. This means you’ll have the opportunity to work on one of the company's most exciting projects.

This role starts as a 6-months internship but has the opportunity to grow into a full-time position within the team in the future.

What you’ll do

  • Experience first-hand the launch of SumUp in new markets and jurisdictions

  • Partner with the team on the coordination of local law firms as well as the collaboration with internal teams, ensuring smooth processes and a solid communication flow

  • Review and draft policies and legal documents for our new entities and conduct regulatory research and analysis 

  • Extend your project management skills and assist on various initiatives related to regulatory compliance for the new countries, helping to ensure the team receives all information needed from key stakeholders at the right timeframe to complete tasks

  • Represent SumUp in external meetings with local lawyers, acquirers and regulators when needed

You’ll be great for this role if

  • You’re fluent in spoken and written Spanish and English languages.

  • You have experience working in a Legal or Compliance role.

  • You have the ability to analyze results and apply independent judgment to solve issues and suggest improvements on both short-term and long-term basis.

  • You have a willingness to handle administrative tasks, sensitive documents and to provide support to the team in different GRC and expansion fronts.

  • You can communicate complex ideas effectively and foster strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

  • You carry strong Microsoft Office skills in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
