Head of Merchant Onboarding Europe - Sofia

As our Head of Merchant Onboarding (Europe), you’ll play a key role in SumUp’s mission to become the most loved partner for small and medium-sized merchants. Based in Sofia, you’ll lead a team of over 120 onboarding professionals performing merchant verification across 28 European markets. You’ll collaborate with various teams to ensure SumUp is well placed to assist our merchants, while staying compliant with applicable laws and regulations.

What you’ll do:

  • Define long-term goals and short-term objectives with Onboarding management

  • Ensure team Key Performance Metrics are consistently met

  • Prepare headcount forecast and ensure timely hiring

  • Coach, mentor and support direct reports in their professional development

  • Collaborate with the Product team to implement process automation, securing proper tools and resources for Onboarding

  • Work with the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) team to ensure processes comply with regulatory requirements 

You’ll be great for this role if

  • You have 8+ years of professional experience working in hyper-growth environments.

  • You have a people leadership skill set with 5+ years spent building and scaling passionate and high-performing teams.

  • Previous experience in Finance, Merchant Services, Compliance, Know Your Customer or AML is a plus.

  • You have excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
