You’ll need to provide your personal details (name, date of birth and residential address). We'll then ask you to take a picture of both sides of an identity document (e.g. your passport, national ID card or driver’s licence) and take a selfie to confirm that the document belongs to you.

Paying a SumUp merchant
What are the payment options with SumUp Pay?
There are several ways you can pay using SumUp Pay. To pay a SumUp merchant, you can either scan a merchant's QR code at their business or pay using a payment link that is sent to you by a merchant.
A payment link is usually sent by a merchant via email or SMS, using a messaging service like WhatsApp or on social media.
To pay at any merchant, you can create your own virtual Mastercard, the SumUp Pay Mastercard. It can be used with Apple Pay or Google Pay to make contactless payments.
How do I pay a SumUp Merchant using SumUp Pay?

When you pay a payment link with a credit card as a verified SumUp Pay customer, your bank or credit card issuer may in some instances charge you a cash advance fee. SumUp Pay charges no fees and has no control over third-party fees. To avoid being charged a cash advance fee, we recommend you add money to your account and pay payment links using your SumUp Pay balance, or a linked debit card.

Terms of the SumUp Pay referral programme
The refer a friend programme (the “refer a friend”) allows eligible SumUp Pay customers to earn a referral bonus and grant it to the referred new customer (‘’Promotion’’). The referral bonus will be granted only if you and your referred friends meet all of the criteria present during the refer a friend programme availability. The provider of refer a friend is SumUp Payments Limited, a company with limited liability incorporated in England and Wales with its registered number 07836562 and with its registered office at 16-20 Shorts Gardens, London WC2H 9US, UK for the United Kingdom.
Who is eligible for the Promotion?
To participate in the refer a friend programme, you must be at least 18 years old and a resident of the United Kingdom.
Each user is entitled to share the code with multiple persons, however, the referral code can be redeemed only 5 times. This means you can earn up to 100 GBP total for the referred friends. A redemption is understood to be an action of entering the code in a designated field in the SumUp Pay app by the referred person, regardless of the success of their account verification. Subsequent attempts beyond this limit will trigger an error message, indicating that the maximum redemption threshold has been achieved.
If you want to refer new customers who have already participated in another SumUp Pay Promotion, such as ‘Promotion code’ for signup, they are not eligible for the referral bonus. You also cannot use the code if it was provided by a person who was previously referred by you.
What do you need to do to earn the bonus?

The referred friend will also be rewarded with £20 upon successful KYC verification and after making three card payments with a total minimum value of £10 – certain transactions such as gambling and bank transfers aren't eligible.
The referral bonus will be granted directly into the account balance and credited to both the referrer and the referred friends’ SumUp Pay accounts. Standard cashback redemption Terms apply.
What else do you need to know?
We request that you refer a friend solely if you know they will welcome and not be disturbed by the recommendation.
We may, at our sole discretion, suspend, terminate or amend these Terms without prior notice. To be eligible for the referral bonus, you must comply with these Terms and all other Terms and Conditions that apply to your SumUp Pay account.
If we suspect that you've been involved in any fraudulent or substantial misuse of this Promotion, we reserve the right to take appropriate actions as we deem necessary. For instance, it would be considered a significant misuse of this Promotion if you organise a campaign solely to profit from it without generating authentic and distinct new sign-ups. In such cases, at our sole discretion, we may decide to close your account and undo any rewards provided.
