“You know complicated. Here’s simple”: SumUp launches multi-market advertising campaign
London, 5 October 2020: As part of its growing mission to take the complexity and stress out of running small businesses, global payments platform SumUp is launching its latest TV advertising campaign to emphasise the importance and advantages of adopting contactless card payments in the current commercial climate and beyond.
The advertisement was designed in-house by SumUp and shot by Berlin-based production agency Bubbles Film. The 30-second film, titled “You know complicated. Here’s simple.”, highlights the day-to-day challenges of running, and working for, a small merchant.
Following members of staff in a cafe, florist, hairdressers, and an electric service van on a loud bustling high street, we see the direct and indirect problems each individual has to face when relying on outdated devices and cash payments to process transactions. Towards the end of the advertisement, the noise and disorder subside as the employees, together with the audience, are presented with the “perfect payment” solution in the form of a SumUp card reader; the juxtaposition embodying the campaign’s message “You know complicated. Here’s simple.”
The 30-second film will play from October 5th across the UK’s most-watched TV channels including Channel 4, Sky Sports Main Event, Dave, and ITV2, as well as video on demand platforms ITV Hub, All4 and Sky VOD, among others. It will also run on SumUp’s social media and across radio, Spotify, and other digital audio vendors.
